Mechanobiology of Persistent Cell States

The McCreery Lab investigates how forces are transmitted to the nucleus and encoded into persistent changes in chromatin and cell state. We study how these mechanisms shape adaptation, disease progression, and regeneration across mechanically dynamic tissues.

 

By integrating engineering, quantitative mechanobiology, atomic force microscopy, live-cell imaging, stem-cell models, and genomic approaches, we connect physical signals across scales from extracellular matrix (ECM) architecture and force transmission to nuclear organization and epigenetic regulation.
